Acoustical and Fire Sealants
Billings Drywall Company
We understand the importance of maximising the safety of your home or commercial property. That’s why it’s so important to take necessary measures that can prevent the spread of a fire. Sometimes, poor workmanship can mean that there are gaps that leave the possibility for fire to penetrate walls and floors. Concealed spaces in the construction of a building provide a ready space for smoke and flames to spread. We offer a range of fire sealants to prevent this from happening. The same is true for noise; it’s important to remember that wherever air can get through, so can sound! We’ve got top-quality acoustic sealants for your property.
Fire Sealant
Fire sealants are important elements of any drywall installation. Our fireproofing sealants have all been tested to ensure that they meet the highest of fire safety standards. A lightweight, all purpose sealant brings the added benefit of shrinking meaning it is easier to sand. It can be used for embedding paper joint tape, finishing gypsum panels of hand-applied texturing. If your property has drywall installed, fires could present a greater danger as the spread might be concealed between the spaces and cavities in the construction of the building. We’ve got solutions for your safety needs though it’s important to remember that no single solution can provide comprehensive protection.
Product
Our drywall fire sealant is halogen free, polymer emulsion which swells when subjected to temperatures in excess of 257F. It will then form a char coat which restricts the passage of smoke and fire. It is an ideal substance for dealing between fire doors and fire rated walls. We apply a minimum depth of 15mm to your drywall to ensure the highest standards of health and safety. For Billings Drywall Company, your safety is our priority, and that’s why we don’t cut corners when it comes to fire sealant. If we paint over the sealant, we can also re-apply a fire resistant coating, giving you the peace of mind you deserve in your new property.
Variables
There are a number of factors to consider when determining the fire safety of your new build. When trying to work out or ensure that a new drywall or partition will provide the required fire performance, consider the fire resistant period, insulation requirements, wall, floor and linear gaps, and whether the wall is load bearing. If you are unsure as to the safety of your drywall, don’t hesitate to call us – we can send a trained professional around to examine your drywall and offer you an affordable solution should you require it!
